The Montenegrin parliament did not support the dismissal of Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, requested by local chief executive Zdravko Krivokapic. Most of the deputies in the hall did not vote on the agenda that provided for the vote for his dismissal.
Consequently, the election of Finance Minister Milojko Spajic to the post of Abazovic was not placed on the agenda. Krivokapic’s request came in response to an initiative by the Civic Bridge Movement and opposition parties for a no-confidence motion against his government.
Prior to the hearing, Abazovic told reporters that it did not matter how lawmakers voted, but that the only important thing, he said, was for Montenegro to have a new European government, unblocking its path to the EU. .
“Let all deputies vote as they think. I expect the fall of the Government to be voted“, Was the comment he made.
Abazovic thinks the new government will have the support of at least 49 lawmakers, clear tasks and limited time on the road to the EU, and to hold fair elections when the conditions are right.
The motion of no confidence in the executive is decided by the parliament on February 4, but it is now clear where the vote of the Montenegrin lawmakers will go.
