The Ministry of Health today is expected to recommend relief of antiCOVID measures.
To facilitate the measures, health professionals share different opinions.
While the president of the Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe, Aurora Dollenberg, agrees that curfew should be removed as a restrictive measure, she says it is imperative that the evidence of three doses of vaccine to enter Kosovo must remain valid.
But, the infectologist and MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Shemsedin Dreshaj, has a different opinion, saying that the measures imposed by the Government no longer make sense and that according to him, inspections for respecting measures such as wearing a mask and social distance should be increased. .
The Pandemic Management Committee is expected to convene today to assess the epidemiological situation and analyze the imposition of new measures. The new measures discussed are the police hour to be halved or removed, while the gastronomy to continue on a regular schedule until 23:00.
Reliefs are also expected to occur at border crossings where there will be no need for citizens to prove that they have received three doses of the vaccine, as it will be sufficient to cross the border with two doses of the vaccine and without a test.
The president of the Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe, Aurora Dollenberg, says that the low percentage of vaccinated people in Kosovo does not offer the convenience of copying the big European countries that have eased the measures.
While urging caution in easing the measures, Dollenberg says restrictive measures should continue to be in place.
“Kosovo must be careful in easing restrictive and protective measures because we must not copy big countries like Denmark or England that have passed 85% of their vaccinated. Kosovo continues to remain with a low percentage of vaccinated and as a result must be very vigilant and still maintain restrictive measures either at the border or even among ordinary citizens should increase work to vaccinate not only with two doses the first, but even with the number three dose “, she said.
Family medicine specialist Aurora Dollenberg agrees that the curfew should be removed, but insists that measures to prove the third dose, but also the possession of two doses of vaccine, continue to be in force at the border crossings to enter Kosovo. antiCOVID and PCR test.
“As far as curfew is concerned, as a doctor I would say that in other European countries, the curfew is not as necessary and as important as respecting social distance and wearing masks during the day, so to advise that in the first place for Kosovo it is important to wear masks of social distance and get vaccinated regularly, while the curfew can even be removed… From a medical point of view it is very important to limit the import or export of the virus especially of new omicron variants that are highly contagious, so at the border lines it is very important to maintain control and be forced to do a third dose or submit a negative PCR test, ”said Dollenberg.
The MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Shemsedin Dreshaj, is also supporting the facilitation of the measures, which includes the removal of the curfew and the removal of the measure for the testimony of three doses, as well as the return of gastronomic work until 23:00.
Dreshaj, even as an infectologist, considers that it is illusory to expect the pandemic to be managed with sanctioning measures.
He says adherence to standard pandemic management measures such as wearing a mask and social distance should be further inspected.
“It is illusory to expect the pandemic to be managed with sanctions. Standard measures are not being respected, so there is no room for radical measures to be added until those standards are respected. If I were part of the professional team or Minister of Health I would have made decisions a little differently, I would have acted with inspectors and police on the ground, with sanctions for those who do not respect the law and measures, while in terms of additional measures will it would depend on the epidemiological situation we have… It is meaningless to go to radical measures when standard measures are not respected “, said Dreshaj.
MP Dreshaj speaks against the current measures in force, and even says that these measures have not had an effect on pandemic management.
“As an expert in the field and as an Alliance, we have been against cutting hours in gastronomy because it helps the country’s energy crisis more than disease management. We have been against curfew because the virus is 24 hours in place and we think curfew is not something that needs to be implemented. As an Alliance we have been against the third dose at the border because the third dose at the border means as if we had reached a high number of vaccinated with the third dose which we do not have in place and at the same time as the Alliance and as an expert “We have indicated in time that the characteristics of the pandemic are not world-class characteristics when the ICDS will not make recommendations because different countries have different characteristics in terms of vaccines or treatment capacities,” he said.
On January 21, due to the pandemic situation, the Government of Kosovo had decided that gastronomy should work only until 21:00, after the curfew was changed from 24:00 to 22:00. For all citizens entering Kosovo as a restrictive measure is established evidence of the third dose of antiCOVID vaccine or two doses and a negative PCR test.
Whereas, yesterday in Kosovo, 2,590 citizens tested positive, while 6 people lost their lives as a result of infection./KosovaPress/
