At the end of the visit to Kosovo, the emissaries of the European Union and the United States once again gave their support to Kosovo regarding the Association of Serbian Municipalities.
Miroslav Lajcak said that there will be no second Serbian republic in Kosovo.
“Kosovo is an equal party in the dialogue, Kosovo has 50% of the right to speak, which means that nothing can be imposed on it without an agreement. I often hear it said that we do not want a second Serbian republic, I believe we have made it very clear that no one wants a second Serbian republic in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the US envoy Gabriel Escobar said that the models of the association should be discussed between the parties.
“What I said when I stated that there are different models for creating an association is that there are models that do not harm the sovereignty or functionality of Kosovo.”
This meant that the agreement reached in 2013 for the Association of Serbian Municipalities must be made. However, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti, as he says that they have given proposals in Brussels.
We have given our proposals in the meetings we have had in Brussels and we are constructive for future talks in the dialogue that takes place, facilitated or mediated by the European Union.
Lajcak and Escobar also met with QUINT ambassadors on Wednesday and began their visit to Serbia.
