Israeli security forces today surrounded the home of a slain Palestinian assailant of the Hamas group, in the annexed area of East Jerusalem.
Abu Shkaidam had shot dead an Israeli tour guide before he was killed by security forces last year. More than 150 Israeli soldiers and police arrived today to destroy the home of a dead Hamas member in the Gaza Strip.
Police said residents stoned officers, causing them to use “crowd distribution tools”. Footage recorded by locals showed soldiers in heavy clothing drilling holes in the walls of a multi-storey building.
Police said since the attacker’s apartment was part of a multi-storey residential building, the demolition of the house would only be done from the inside.
The soldiers then closed the house and wrote ‘Do not enter’ on its door in Arabic.
Shkaidam had killed an Israeli in the Old City of Jerusalem and wounded two civilians, before being killed by security forces in November 2021, according to Israeli police.
A report by the human rights group Amnesty International today stated that Israeli laws, policies and practices used against the Palestinians are an apartheid regime.
