More than 3,000 flights have been canceled at some of the busiest U.S. airports due to heavy snowfall in the east of the country.
Snowstorm warnings have been issued in 10 states including Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
Over 3,000 flights were canceled due to heavy snowfall at the airports of these states.
The Amtrak Railway Company also suspended and restricted its services on the Boston-Washington line.
Officials have warned citizens to stay away from the streets.
Rhode Island, meanwhile, which has been under snowstorm warning since 08:00 a.m. has banned all land travel except emergency ones.
Massachusetts has banned heavy trucks on interregional highways while Delaware in two of its three regions has allowed the use of vehicles only for basic personnel.
In Virginia, hundreds of drivers were stranded on Interstate 95 due to a snowstorm.
