The Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu has inspected today the Memorial Hospital of Fier, for the expansion of health services of tertiary level, turning this hospital a reference point in the public health system.
Manastirliu stated that in the first 6 months of 2022, the aim is to integrate the 24-hour hemodynamics service for the southern region and other new services for citizens.
“There are 17 medical services that are currently functioning and our objective is to expand to other new services. The ophthalmological service, the orthopedic service that needs to be developed and also the 24-hour hemodynamics, are the immediate objectives that we want to achieve within the first 6 months of this year “, said Manastirliu.
Currently, the staff of the Fier Memorial Hospital has been expanded with 34 new nurses employed by the portal “Nurses for Albania”, while there are over 100 Turkish doctors who have provided services in this hospital during the 8 months of its operation. Minister Manastirliu informed that the number of doctors and nurses employed in the health system during 2021.
“In our entire health system only during the last year, more than 1200 nurses have been employed through the Nurses for Albania portal and more than 320 doctors. “The best should serve our citizens and the best are selected only through transparent portals and meritocracy”, said Manastirliu.
While announcing that work is being done on the new legal framework, Manastirliu said that this hospital, with the approval of the new law on hospital care, will immediately begin the implementation of hospital autonomy.
“Fier Memorial Hospital will be the hospital where Hospital Autonomy will be applied for the first time, so we have laid a good foundation for the fact that this hospital has a team of managers from Turkey. We are working on work protocols, standard protocols, so we are getting ready with the adoption of the new law on hospital service, where within this new legal framework we want to adopt will also be space to include Hospital Autonomy, as a new model which starts with the Memorial Fier hospital and then will be extended to many other hospitals “, underlined Manastirliu.
From Fieri, Minister Manastirliu stressed that despite the pandemic, in all hospitals of the country, municipalities, regions and universities, work is being done to increase the range of medical equipment and treatments without stopping investments at any time. There are 17 health services in Fier Memorial Hospital that are already offering a new standard of service for patients from the southern regions. By the end of 2021, over 36 thousand services have been provided, for an eight-month period. During these 8 months this hospital has provided new services in the public hospital system which are: Angio-Scanner of Blood Vessels; Treatment of Endoscopic Polypectomy; Surgical Interventions of High and Complexity such as Extroperitoneal, Esophagus; Tumor Removal, etc. 256 Albanian and Turkish staff are offering their services in this hospital.
