The MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Albena Reshitaj, estimates that the executive should change the measure for entering Kosovo with a third dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and the same measure should be replaced by free rapid tests at the border.
“Recent measures and especially the demand for the third dose of vaccine has been unnecessary at this stage, as even with two vaccines citizens are managing to become infected again with COVID-19. “I asked that this measure be changed and that rapid tests be offered at free borders, as their accuracy is high and fast”, she said.
Among other things, Reshitaj, in the “Special Edition” of Klan Kosova, stressed that this measure is inappropriate, as citizens in the country have not yet been vaccinated in bulk with this dose.
“There are still discussions in the international arena whether all citizens should be vaccinated with the booster dose and let us not forget that these doses are necessary for the most vulnerable categories. “When we as a country have not managed to mass vaccinate the citizens with three doses and ask the citizens of Albania, Northern Macedonia and other countries, it is inappropriate”, said Reshitaj.
The MP estimates that the National Institute of Public Health should do research on COVID variants that are present in Kosovo.
“This research would help more institutions, citizens and experts that we are not only dealing with the Omicron variant, but also the Delta variant and that the cases that are becoming infected and unfortunately are dying may be with older variants. For that I asked the institutions to know what is the percentage of cases with the respective variants of COVID-19. We do not have this information “, said Reshitaj.
