The sixth question, in the context of the initiative of the National Consultation, on which the government seeks the opinion of Albanians, has to do with one of the most debated issues in the country, the legalization of cannabis for medical purposes.
Klotilda Bushka spoke about this on the show “Top Talk”, saying that as long as there is a debate in Albania and in the region, the opinion of the citizens should be taken and it is well-decided in the questionnaire.
Dyrnjaja: One issue that has caught my eye is the legalization of cannabis. It says that there are people who say that Albania should allow the cultivation, processing and export of controlled cannabis for medical purposes without legalizing illegal cannabis. Others say cannabis should be outside the legalization format. It seems as if people are asking for this but it was a thesis put forward a long time ago by Koço Kokëdhima and 1-2 years ago it was thrown as a provocation by Rama. Are we in the conditions when we have to legalize cannabis when endless hashish is smoked in the neighborhoods in the capital?
Bushka: I do not want to give the impression that I am answering the questionnaire. One could say that I am suggesting the answers of the citizens. As long as the questionnaire has the right for the opinion to be anonymous, I would not want the public to take my opinion and suggest it. It does not matter when it arose as a debate or when it stopped talking about this issue, situations change, the more so for this issue that the whole world has a different approach. If you look at the region, we have steps taken by Northern Macedonia that for some medical reasons have made some legal provisions. Even in Albanian society it is not a discussion of one person or several persons. It is an issue that society discusses. As long as there is a debate in Albania and in the region, the opinion of the citizens should be taken and it is well decided in the questionnaire.
