After six days of fighting this Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the anti-ISIS coalition of Arabs and Kurds, announced that they have regained full control of the Gweiran prison in northeastern Syria.
This prison had previously been attacked by Islamic State (ISIS) fighters with the aim of freeing some prisoners associated with them.
The takeover of this prison was commented on by SDF spokesman Farhad Shami.

Attacks on prisons are very common acts committed by jihadist groups. The attack in recent days has been severe, as the Gweiran prison, run by Kurdish forces is one of the largest in the area.
US military troops also came to the aid of the SDF, and more than 130 people were killed.
