Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said today that the US decision to withdraw the families of its diplomats in Kiev was “premature”.
Fearing a possible Russian invasion, Washington authorized the “voluntary” departure of non-essential embassy staff and urged citizens not to stay in the former Soviet Union.
Spokesman Nikolenko said that there are no such changes in the situation yet, to justify such a thing.
“In fact, the threats of a wave of aggression from Russia have been the same since 2014, while the accumulation of Russian troops at the border has started since April last year.”
He added that there is a considerable amount of misinformation in the international media in order to sow panic and insecurity between foreigners and Ukrainians.
“The Russian Federation is trying to destabilize the internal situation in Ukraine.”
“And along with this there is a great deal of misinformation and manipulation that spreads in the Ukrainian and international media, in order to spread panic, drive business and disrupt economic stability,” Nikolenko added.
