The United Arab Emirates said on January 24 that it had detected and destroyed two Houthi rebel ballistic missiles targeting the capital Abu Dhabi.
The UAE Ministry of Defense did not report any casualties and said the missiles landed in two separate regions near Abu Dhabi.
A spokesman for the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, Yahya Sarea, said the ballistic missiles targeted the al-Dhafra air base in Abu Dhabi.
Sarea said the group also targeted some vital areas of Dubai, using drones, but did not specify what those targets were.
This was the second rocket attack on the UAE by rebels in Yemen, after they last week attacked a fuel depot in Abu Dhabi, killing three people and setting fire to an airport near that depot.
This attack marked a major escalation of the conflict in Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition responded by attacking a detention center, led by Huthi rebels. The airstrike killed at least 82 people and injured dozens more.
Following the escalation of the situation, the United States and the United Nations called for a reduction in tensions.
The Saudi-led coalition, which includes the United Arab Emirates, intervened in Yemen in March 2015, months after the Huthi rebels ousted the internationally recognized Sanaa Government.
Saudi Arabia and the United States have long accused Iran of supplying military equipment to Houthi rebels, including parts for drones and missiles. Tehran denies providing financial and military support to the group.
