A 91-year-old man died in an accident while trying to escape from a care home in Italy, coming down from the window tied with a sheet in the middle.
Mario Finotti was a resident of the Opera Pia Francesco Bottoni nursing home in Papozze, in the northeastern region of Veneto.
He was trying to get out of his room on the second floor coming down from the window with a sheet he had tied between him.
Local media reported that the tight tie may have caused him a fatal strain on his lungs, killing him while he was hanging on the sheet.

Finotti was born in the city and had always lived there.
He had no children and was not married, he had even refused caregivers in recent years.
The director of the care home Luca Avanzi told Corriere della Sera: “We are shocked by what happened. Mario Finotti was well and did not suffer from mental illness. “We do not know what was going on in his mind as he was psychologically peaceful.”
Loneliness seems to be the motive for Finotti’s attempt to leave as strict Covid-19 restrictions in Italy barred him from visiting. The prosecution is investigating the incident.
