A number of Ukrainian government websites were attacked on Friday, in a cyber attack that also aimed to hit embassies.
The Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Education were among those attacked, along with embassies in the United Kingdom, the United States and Sweden.
Before the pages disappeared, a message appeared warning Ukrainians to “prepare for the worst.”
It was unclear who was behind the attack, but a spokesman said previous cyber attacks had come from Russia.
Russia, meanwhile, has not yet commented. However, the Ukrainian government has come under heavy pressure from its neighbor, with a gathering of about 100,000 Russian troops near its borders.
At the start of Friday’s attack, a message was posted on hacked websites in three languages: Ukrainian, Russian and Polish.
“Ukrainians! “All your personal data have been uploaded to the public internet”, it was said in the message. “This is about your past, your present and your future,” the message concluded
