Although many in the world are still reluctant, for some reason, to get the coronavirus vaccine, perhaps 85-year-old Indian Brahmdeo Mandal will calm them down. Mandal is so excited about the vaccination that he has received 12 doses of COVID vaccine so far, writes the New York Times.
He says he received his first dose on February 13 at a local clinic and has not stopped since. He recorded the date and location of each vaccination in his pocket diary. The ninth stroke, he said, was on September 24 at 12:32 pm at the Kalashan hospital in Madhepura district.
“I felt it was helping my overall health,” he told the NYT in a telephone interview. He says that his back pain has decreased, that he generally feels better and that his appetite has improved. Mandal goes on to say that he has been constantly looking for new locations where vaccinations are being carried out. When he learned the place, he would go there and get the vaccine because no one knew him.
Amarendra Narayan Shahi, chief medical officer in Madhepura, says he spoke to Mandala, who told him about his search for higher doses because he believed it cured his other illnesses, many of which were natural in those years.
“Yes, he claims to have taken 12 doses,” said Dr. Shahi, who says he has set up a three-member investigative team to oversee everything.
