Gentjan Bejtja, who survived the assassination attempt the night before in Fushë Krujë has stated that he does not know the perpetrators.
According to him, he was hit from behind and it was dark at the moment when he confronted the perpetrators.
Several people have been escorted to the police, as suspects in the assassination.
During yesterday’s assassination, 41-year-old Betja and Klodian Stafukan were injured, who presented themselves for medical assistance at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
After the assassins wounded Bejtjan in the arm, the vehicle he was driving went off the road.
The injured are known to the police, especially Bejtja, one of the persons investigated for the murder of Commissar Dritan Lamaj.
Together with Enver Stafuka, a person who was abducted and is missing, Gentjan Bejtja has been arrested for stealing a vehicle that was suspected of being used to kill Commissar Dritan Lamaj.
The vehicle was stolen near a pastry shop on one of the most populated streets of Durrës, “Aleksandër Goga”, near the police directorate.
In September 2016, Bejtja escaped an explosion with explosives in his vehicle where he was injured.
Together with Enver Stafuka, Bejtja was acquitted by the Court of Durrës, for lack of evidence as perpetrators of the theft of the vehicle used in the murder of the commissioner in Tirana in 2013.
15 months after this Court decision and two years after Lamaj’s murder, in February 2015, Stafuka was abducted by unidentified persons and the event still remains unsolved.
