Volkswagen-VW reported a significant increase in sales in the US last year, despite the continued shortage of semiconductors and the disappointing last quarter, according to a statement.
Sales were higher thanks to the popularity of sports car models like; Atlas and Tiguan, enabling VW to sell a total of 375,030 vehicles in the US, up 15 percent from a year earlier.
At the end of the year, however, sales fell nearly 11 percent to 84,336 vehicles compared to the same period a year earlier. Supply chain problems have significantly slowed the US car market in recent months.
VW was forced to reduce working hours at production sites throughout the year due to a lack of electronic parts.
