In the south of France, 12 people have been infected with a hitherto unknown variant of the corona virus, French media report.
The zero patient is said to be a returnee from Cameroon and experts speculate that a possible new type could come from this Central African country.
The new type was discovered by the experts of the University Hospital in Marseille, and was temporarily named B.1.640.2.
In a preliminary study, French government experts identified 46 mutations in the variant and stated that the new variant may be more contagious than the original type.
