Prime Minister Edi Rama in the last press conference for this year, started his speech with the energy crisis, which he said he is proud of the way the government has protected household consumers.
He said that while other countries in the region and Europe have raised prices, the Albanian government decided to protect household consumers from this increase, while for all those who did not believe in this crisis, he took the example of Kosovo.
The Prime Minister said that in addressing the long-term energy crisis, the government has almost a 4-point plan.
“From them starts, perhaps from a fact, of a global energy crisis that is challenging all states and a furious wave of prices, which have recently reached 450 euros per megawatt. This crisis, which I have warned about before, does not seem to have a clear end. There has been talk of June but no one can confirm this. In the surrounding countries prices have risen we have stood by a fixed idea, that we will become a shield to family and small business, but now that we are talking a conversation is taking place between Balluk and companies that are connected to the medium voltage, and yes we prepare and for them a facilitation scheme. why are we able to stay, because we have addressed the crisis with a reform of the supply scheme and so far we are confident that at least for the period until June, meanwhile we anticipate a mitigating effect, without being able to be accurate I do not know what the situation will be in March-April, but I want to say that we will continue to protect household consumers. to me not allowing the crisis wave to fall on families and companies operating with medium voltage, is fantastic.
Look at Kosovo, today it is in the clutches of a crisis that for objective reasons, and it is in the conditions where you have to choose between price increase and restriction, and this for all those who said there is no crisis and do it to divert attention. I am happy that we have a stable situation, and moreover we are helping Kosovo, that in mourning and joy we must share with Kosovo what we have.
Now to address the long-term energy problem, our ambition is for us to move to net energy exporters, that is, to guarantee ourselves and sell to others, how we will do it, by increasing capacity, which Skavica will enable us, the other by put into operation with a new scheme Tecin of Vlora, the other with photovoltaic parks and increasing the production capacity from water, where we are evaluating a large project that will significantly increase capacity, and thus enter the path of epoch energy transformation“, Said Rama.
