Shriver filed for divorce from Schwarzenegger in 2011 after 25 years of marriage.
Veteran action actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, suckers of the famous Kennedy family of politicians, have recently completed their divorce proceedings, confirm sources of the Fox News network.
Shriver, 66, first filed for divorce from Schwarzenegger, now 74, in July 2011, citing the legal cliché of “unadjustable differences.”
The closure of their Shriver and Schwarzenegger divorce was hampered by the finalization of the property-sharing agreement.
Their divorce was finalized by a private judge earlier this month and then signed by an incumbent judge, according to sources.
The divorce came after news that the actor had become the father of an illegitimate child with the couple’s housekeeper Mildred Baena in 1996. Schwarzenegger has already maintained a relationship with his son Joseph, born Beana.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver have four children together, sons Patrick and Christopher, and daughters Christina and Katherine.
Despite the 2011 public scandal, Schwarzenegger and Shriver have maintained a friendship and spent several family holidays together. Shriver has been Schwarzenegger’s 73rd birthday along with the kids in 2020.
Schwarzenegger had written about his betrayal in a memoir, but Shriver had waited until the end of his term as governor in California to discuss the issue.
“As soon as we sat down to discuss the therapist turned to me and said, ‘Maria wanted to come here today and ask you about the baby you gave birth to with housekeeper Mildred (Baena),” Schwarzenegger wrote in his autobiography.
“I told the therapist, ‘It’s true,'” the book continues.
