Albania has absorbed 711 million euros of foreign investments in the first 9 months of this year, almost 8 million euros more than the same period a year ago.
The Netherlands, the country where many ‘offshore’ companies are registered, also dominates the list of foreign investments for this 9-month period with a value of 139 million euros. However, compared to the same period last year, the flow of Dutch investments has decreased by about 38 million euros.
It is followed by Italy as the second largest investor with an investment flow of 103 million euros by the end of September, mainly concentrated in the services sector, recording a slight increase compared to the 9-month period of 2020.
Turkey, on the other hand, is listed as the third most important investor in Albania with a total value of 63 million euros in total foreign investment. However, the inflow of foreign direct investment from Turkey has decreased significantly by almost 24 million euros less than compared to the same period last year.
Foreign investments from France have seen almost a doubling this period, bringing their total to 58 million euros at the end of September, from 29 million euros in the first nine months of 2020.
While Swiss investments have seen the strongest contraction, dropping to 39 million euros, about 77 million euros less than last year. This decrease in flows from Switzerland is mainly related to the completion of the TAP pipeline.
