Israel plans to expand its civilian presence on the Golan Heights, annexed in 1981 but not internationally recognized.
“After several static years in terms of community life, our goal is to double the population of the Golan Heights,” Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on December 26.
The two new settlements that Israel plans to build have already been named Asif and Matar, while about $ 310 million will be invested in these areas.
