The bodyguard boyfriend of the princess of Dubai, Haya was not involved in the blackmail of 7 million pounds to keep the matter secret, his friends and colleagues declared today.
They insist former British soldier Russell Flowers had not asked for money at the end of their nearly two-year relationship.
But he was paid milionë 1.2m as part of a non-disclosure deal that barred him from talking about his intimate relationship with Dubai’s billionaire ruler’s wife, Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum, or other issues.
“There was no blackmail from Russell, he is not like that, it did not happen,” a friend recently told the British tabloid Daily Mail.
The affair between the two seems to have also ended Flowers’s four-year marriage, leaving his wife devastated by the betrayal.
Friends had told the bodyguard’s wife that the 37-year-old had been seduced by the 46-year-old princess, whose gifts to her secret boyfriend included a ,000 12,000 watch as well as a ,000 50,000 craft rifle.
A former colleague said: “It was standard when he left work with the Dubai royal family to sign a non-disclosure agreement.”
“This has been the case for years, when the agreement is signed, the financial reward is agreed upon.”
Princess Haya, will receive a record amount of 554 million pounds from her divorce, but in yesterday’s trial it was said that she was a victim of blackmail by four members of her security group.
She said she paid three of them milionë 7m to keep quiet about the matter.
The perpetrators were not identified in court but were named only as gentlemen A, B and C.
Mr. A had received £ 2.5 million while the other two had shared £ 4.45mln.
The ex-military Flowers, was not named in court proceedings but had previously been identified as the princess’s secret boyfriend.
Last year it was revealed that he had profited £ 1.2m from the affair with the princess, which led to her marriage ending and she leaving Dubai fearing for her life in 2018.
Flowers was assigned to work with the princess on the royal estates of Dalham Hall in Suffolk, Britain.
His friends said he always took the adjoining room while traveling to hotels with the princess, who gave him many luxurious gifts.
His wife later revealed the affair when she saw photos of the Princess on her cell phone.
At trial it was said of the lifestyle of the princess and her 72-year-old husband, that in one case milionë 2 million had been spent on strawberries alone.
