More than 8.79 million people have fled Ukraine since the war began in February, the UN refugee agency said.
On its official website, UNHCR also said that, in recent weeks, escalating fighting across the country has forced millions to flee their homes.
“Escalating conflict in Ukraine has caused civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure, forcing people to flee their homes in search of safety, protection and assistance“, the statement says.
Mostly, refugees have stopped in Poland, as it is the closest geographical country to Ukraine.
