Queen Elizabeth of England today celebrates the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne, becoming the first monarch to reach this record, staying 7 decades and reaching the jubilee known as Platinum.
She ascended the throne on February 6, 1952 when she was only 27 years old, following the death of her father King George VI.
