About 53 civilians were reportedly killed by Russian forces in the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv on Wednesday, according to Governor Vyacheslav Chaus.
“The enemy continues systematic artillery and air attacks in the regional center. They are destroying civilian infrastructure. We are suffering great losses. “Fifty-three bodies of our citizens were handed over to the city morgues only during the last day.”he reported.
Chaus said local authorities were working to restore power, water and gas supplies to parts of the city, despite ongoing bombings.
The governor also announced another round of talks with Russian troops to arrange a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from the city.
