The government is doing everything to support Albanian citizens. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Damian Gjiknuri, at today’s parliamentary session.
From the rostrum of the parliament, Gjiknuri underlined that the government has bought 500 million euros only for energy in order to support consumers. “Government measures, in my opinion, are very extreme for the benefit of citizens and are genuinely social measures. Spending 500 million euros on energy support, who did it?
This is done only to help the citizens and they need to understand us. Exactly a fraction of those hydrocarbon taxes go to fill the budget and afford this bill.
On the other hand the government is addressing the people who are most in need, either for raising the price of cereals or for the basic basket. Who are being helped? Pensioners, people in need, the most affected strata. “The government is doing everything and is monitoring the crisis,” Gjiknuri said.
MP Gjiknuri underlined that Berisha at the end of his government left the energy sector mired in debt that resembled an energy corpse.
“You left the energy sector, you left an energy corpse. It has been many years that there is no lack of electricity supply. I have been a promoter of market liberalization. The government has taken a big risk and these taxes that you say, there are debts that you have left, you. We have pursued the public interest against market principles, we have also managed to protect big business. Spending 500 million euros on energy support, who did it? We did. This government has done everything in its power. Definitely the increase in prices can have an impact on many other sectors because it can really mean that someone increased tax revenues, but it can reduce public work because some construction sites may no longer work. Other processes may be interrupted. We do not know how this will go. What should the government do?
Lift all taxes and then raise your hands? You want the scenario to be fulfilled: o men o people come out to overthrow the government. Will you come to power with the politics of ravens? You want to go to the part where we no longer have bread, the government is overthrown and he (Saliu) goes like a rooster on the manure and says I am the savior. This is irresponsibility. People are stressed, they are tired, Albanian citizens need support but they also need psychological comfort. The government is doing everything. We must all be supportive of the opportunities we have to come to the aid of our citizens. The spring of the Albanians you love will turn into a cobwebby spring that only you in your mind want. We are not for this “, said Gjiknuri.
He stressed that the government has pursued the public interest, while emphasizing that whoever seeks to benefit politically at the moment does not want the good of the country.
“Energy reforms have always aimed at liberalizing the market. I was a promoter when I was a minister with the idea that part of the costs be discharged according to the business market and private users. And these taxes you say you say why the oil tax is not reduced, where will the state budget be filled to cover the energy bill? No matter how cheaply we produce energy, it is not just a matter of production because there is transmission, distribution, investment, debt stock inherited from Sali Berisha’s government, all of which are part of the price structure.
The government has pursued the public interest against market principles, has protected household consumers, has protected small business. In my opinion, it has even gone further, it has managed to protect big business.
Why did he do that? To protect all production structures because the price of energy would have gone to a point that it would bankrupt all businesses. He inadvertently brought it out (Berisha) who was also the political and people-supplied supplier of the protests. Of course there may be people who are worried about prices but when people are politically manipulated and injected with hate speech causing them to detach from reality not knowing what the real causes of the situation are and what we expect from the government, it is not to love this place. This is to set fire to the country, taking advantage of the difficult moment “, declared Gjiknuri.
