Monumenta Albanica Justinopolitana Exhibition around the town of Koper-Capodistria in Slovenia, meaning the head of Istria, with the most famous Albanian noble families present in the town since its founding, under the Illyrian emperor Justin the Great, of the Justinian dynasty in 524 AD Christ, from whom Justinopolis was named, is the noblest reason for commemorating the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Albania.
Peter okatoka: I discovered that the Bruti family comes from Albania. And from this family comes the bishop Agustino Bruti, who was also the descendant of this family. The most important Albanian families are Albanians, Albani and Bruni, who belong to the 13th century. Then the Ottoman occupation began and many other families moved from Albania to my city in Koper, which was Istria and here begins the history of Istria.
This exhibition is dedicated to the cultural traces and the presence of the Arbërs in the city of Koper, founded under the name Justinanpolis, in honor of Emperor Justinian. Thus, the noble Dukagjini family settled in Koper, one of the families that left distinct traces in the entire history of the region. Meanwhile, the famous Bruti-Bruni family from Ulcinj managed to rule in Koper and its members became the flag bearers of the Pope’s ship at the battle of Lepanto in 1571.
Peter okatoka: For me what is most important is the Constitution of the city of Copper, which was written in Venice in 1668, by Anonio Bruni. Antonio Bruni belonged to noble families from Shkodra.
