This Saturday marks the 23rd anniversary of the Recak Massacre in Kosovo, where on January 15, 1999, 45 unarmed Albanians were killed.
The former head of the OSCE monitoring mission in Kosovo, Ambassador William Walker, had described the Recak massacre as a crime against humanity.
What happened on January 15, 1999?
In the early hours of the morning of January 15, the village of Recak woke up surrounded.
According to witnesses, around 6:30 a.m., Serb forces with heavy artillery began bombarding the village. After the cessation of bombing, Serbian forces entered the village and began raiding.
After the Recak massacre, 48-hour fighting resumed between the KLA and Serbian forces for the bodies.
The Recak massacre brought the reaction of the internationals by mobilizing for Kosovo. The horrors caused in the village of Recak brought to the attention of the entire civilized world and revealed the truth about the genocidal plan of the former criminal Slobodan Milosevic.
There has recently been a backlash from the spokesman for the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Peter Stano.
The latter has stated that the Recak Massacre can not be denied, nor should what happened in this village of Kosovo in 1999 be modified.
But Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin called this serious event a big lie.
