A young girl who endangered the functioning of the uterus due to obesity, tells how she recently lost more than 40 kg when doctors told her that she would not give birth to a child if she did not lose weight.
23-year-old Zoe Desantis, a nanny from Boston, USA, was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome in 2017 and was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Zoe – who weighed 105 kg at the time – was told by doctors that it was almost impossible to have children if she did not make changes in her life.
She explained that she ate out of stress and sometimes consumed two boxes of ice cream to cope with a stressful hard day.
But after meeting with the doctors she decided to change things. The young woman started training and dieting, but nothing was working.
So in September 2020, she decided to perform an operation called ‘gastrectomy, vertical sleeve’.
She had to lose at least 40 kg to earn a normal life and later be able to have children of her own.
She has already reached her weight target and weighs 67 kg.
“The main factor that made me decide was that my weight made it difficult for me to have children. I work as a nanny, I am with children all day and I know how much I want to have children one day “, Zoe remembers.
“I have had gastric surgery for nine months now and I have reached my weight goal.”
“I weigh about 67 kg and I am creating healthy eating habits and controlling its mass. I will get married in 2023 and try to have a baby. “I am healthy now and my ovaries are fine.”
Zoe has been with her fiancé Brandon for several years, also 23 years old, whom she says has supported her all the time.
“He has been my rock of support, but that does not mean he was afraid of this big change I made with the operation.”
“We already cook together and make small portions because he knows I can not eat much.”
“We got engaged in September 2021 and we want to have children after marriage”
Zoe says she is happy with the new life, which has improved a lot after losing weight.
“I am very happy because I believed that I would never lose weight. I did not know that I could love myself so much now that I am weaker. “Now I can do things that make my life easier.”
“Now, for example, I can run, I work as a nanny and I have to hurry after the children, when I was overweight I had a hard time.”
