20 arrested in the Port of Durrës/ Several crates were missing from the container of bananas, suspicion of drugs

According to information, 16 of the 20 arrested are employees of the port security force.

The opening of the container was done before passing through the police filter and the scanner.

After this container was opened, it was noticed that its surface was loaded with crates of bananas, and that some crates of bananas were missing.

The police suspect that there may have been narcotics inside the container.

Those arrested for the criminal offenses “Abuse of duty” and “Breaking, removing, replacing security signs of customs authorities” committed in cooperation are:

– PT, 31 years old, resident of Durres, on duty as an employee of the Port Security Force, in the Port of Durres.

Following the actions, the citizens were arrested red-handed for the criminal offenses “Smuggling with other goods” and “Breaking, removing, replacing the security signs of the customs authorities” in collaboration:

– AM, 46 years old, resident of Durrës, worker in the company that was waiting for the shipment of bananas;

– NA, 46 years old, resident of Durrës, driver in the company that was waiting for the shipment of bananas.

“The Investigative Structures of the Local Police Directorate of Durrës in cooperation with those of the Department of Criminal Police in the State Police, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Judicial District of Durrës, are continuing the work to clarify and fully document this event and bring the legal responsibility of other persons involved in this event. The first investigative materials were passed to the Prosecutor’s Office for further procedural actions”, according to the police.
