Although sources said Vladislav Struzkehnkov was seen only from his “positive” side, he had initially complained about problems with the nuns of his Orthodox religious school.
A teenage boy blew himself up at his former school in protest of the abuse he had suffered there.
18-year-old Vladislav Struzkehnkov yesterday detonated his artisanal vehicle at the Vvedenskiy Vladychniy school in Serpukhov, Russia.
The media said he also had cold steel with him.
Local media were saying on their channels on the network Telegram that the teenager had previously complained about “bullying by the nuns” who run the facility, although some reports said he wanted to hurt students as well.
The suspect was reportedly motivated by hatred for teachers and nuns.
Regarding the explosive materials, the victim’s father Andrey Struzhenkov, 41, said he believed his son was buying fireworks for the new year.
The explosion of his artisanal bomb destroyed one of his legs but the authorities did not initially allow him to be treated for fear of other explosive devices.
He lost his life from “blood loss,” local police said.
The Russian news agency TASS said the victim had tried to detonate the bomb during morning prayers but had failed to enter so he detonated it outside.
One of the witnesses at the school said: “The children were running barefoot, going to hide in the dining room.”
At least seven people were injured, including the 15-year-old witness.
Physical education teacher Filip Savostin, who has known the student since 2018, told local media that he had seen the victims “only on his positive side”, and that he had never had any problems with him.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
