Figures thought to have been drawn about 17,300 years ago have been found in a rock shelter in western Australia.

Researcher Sven Ouzman said that by comparing kangaroo painting with the rock paintings of 40,000 years ago in the islands of Southeast Asia we can discern a cultural connection between these regions.
This drawing is thought to be the oldest drawing ever discovered in Australia while the oldest known animal painting in the world is thought to have been drawn 45,500 years ago in a cave on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia.
