A seventh-grader lost consciousness today at school in eastern Britain and despite the help of two ambulances and a helicopter that landed on the school grounds, he was not rescued.
A Essex school spokesman said: “At noon we had a medical episode with one of the children. Ambulances and emergency services provided assistance to the child and in support of staff and other students. “Unfortunately, the child lost his life and out of respect for the family, we will not comment further on this point.”
“The school will be open tomorrow and there will be specialist help as the children will be initially informed by their teachers.”
An email distributed to staff said: “We are saddened to announce that a 7-year-old boy was taken by air ambulance after apparently suffering a heart attack. “Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead.”
“The school will be open tomorrow, trying to attend normally as much as we can. We have asked for help for the critical incident and there will be counseling specialists. “
Essex police said: “We were called to school by ambulance colleagues around 1pm after concerns about the well-being of a young man. We are treating this as a medical episode. “Thank you for your concern.”
