The fourth operation for the repatriation of Albanian citizens who were in the war camps in Syria has been successfully finalized.
4 women and 9 children between the ages of 6 and 16 from Albania arrived at the airport “Adem Jashari” in Prishtina together with other Kosovar citizens who left the hell camps. They were received by the Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi together with his Kosovar counterpart, Xhelal Sveçla, the police chiefs of the two countries, Gledis Nano and Samedin Mehmeti, as well as the director of the CVE Center, Lejdi Dervishi.
The repatriation operation of Albanian citizens from the former conflict zones in Syria and Iraq was carried out in the framework of a bilateral Albania-Kosovo cooperation and with the support of our valuable US partners through coordination with their diplomatic headquarters in Pristina and Tirana. .
Minister Çuçi especially thanked our strategic partners, the United States of America for their extraordinary investment for the successful completion of this operation, and stressed that work will continue for the repatriation of women and other children who still remain. in Syria, also based on previously drawn up lists with Lebanese partners, Major General Abbas Ibrahim and our diplomatic adviser in the region, Marc Ghorayeb.
“This is the fourth operation we are conducting. There are a total of 43 women and children who will already be in their families. I thank here our strategic partners who enabled us this operation, the United States of America, with whom we perfectly organized every detail of this operation. I want to assure all Albanians that we remain determined to return from these camps every Albanian who has remained there, every child and every woman. We have accurate statistics made from the first three operations, which we also have with very important partners in the region there, with our Lebanese partners of excellent coordination, Major General Abbas Ibrahim and our diplomatic adviser in Lebanon, Marc Ghorayeb. “With all these lists, which we will update even more, we will make it possible to return every Albanian who has remained in these camps”, said Minister Çuçi.
He further added that the 13 repatriates of this operation will be reintegrated according to a model already consolidated near a specialized structure “Reception Center” set up specifically with the DCM which operates with professionally trained and experienced multidisciplinary staff.
The Minister of Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, while also confirming the continuation of work for other repatriations, said that now our institutions have the responsibility for the rehabilitation of these citizens and their full integration.
“Our work does not end here. Our teams already have a lot of work to do to rehabilitate these returned compatriots. Those who are affected are deradicalized in order to become part of our society and especially children who are in no way to blame for the situation in which they find themselves. We are convinced that our institutions will do their best to speed up their rehabilitation. With this we approach the end of a really painful episode of our societies “said Sveçla.
At the end of the preliminary medical examinations, 13 repatriated women and children started to be transferred from Prishtina Airport to Albania under the escort of the State Police and the special care of the employees of the Coordination Center Against Violent Extremism.
