Baklava is probably the sweetest cake in the world and one of the most beloved.
Everywhere it is known by this name which consists in the traditional preparation of noodles stuffed with nuts and sorbet.
But apparently there is more than one way to cook delicious baklava. In fact, there are 14 recipes which are prepared under the name “baklava” and each is different from its predecessor.

Baklava with pistachios
You may have heard this recipe often in recent years, not only online, but also in the pastry shops near you.
The pistachio baklava recipe is very popular in Turkey and Syria and is prepared from 40 thin baked noodles stuffed with dried fruit.
The pistachios used in the original recipe are usually small and fresh instead of the big ones you can usually find in supermarkets. This is because freshly ripened pistachios have more flavor. These features make this recipe very popular and loved.
Baklava with nuts
Surely the recipes that you also prepare at home, that of Turkish baklava with ready-made noodles. Walnuts are a substitute for the pistachios we mentioned above and much easier to find wherever you are.
Fresh nuts should be well pressed as they are placed on thin baklava noodles.
Dry baklava
Kuru Baklava is prepared in Turkey and is as special as its name.
This type of baklava has very little syrup and is consumed baked and dry. During preparation this baklava is dipped only at its ends in sorbet and crystallized later than ordinary baklava.
Dry baklava can be consumed up to 30 days after you have prepared it.
Chocolate baklava
Baklava noodles can now be prepared with chocolate flavor. This recipe is similar to the ones you often find in stores, but much sweeter with the characteristic color and taste of chocolate.
Baklava with cream
Creamy baklava is prepared with small triangles of noodles, coated with cream and nuts.
The cake is then baked creating a special creamy filling inside it. The peculiarity of this baklava is that it is lighter in taste than most other recipes.
Baklava of the house
We are talking about traditional baklava with home-made and carefully dried noodles.
This type of baklava requires special care to prepare as as you may know the noodles should be transparent and regular.
You need about 40 noodles to make a baklava stuffed with nuts and sorbets.
Free baklava
In the 1980s, “free baklava” was created in Istanbul, which cost less than the traditional ones with nuts or pistachios. This is due to complaints about the high prices of dessert in stores.
The new baklava was called Sültü Nuriye and is made with crushed hazelnuts and then dipped in milk so that the noodles soften. Except at a reasonable price this recipe is even easier to taste.
Baklava with ice cream
One of the most famous and coveted baklava is the one with pistachios, sorbet and ice cream in between.
After cutting the long triangular pieces in the middle of the dessert place ice cream with milk.
This combination is considered perfect as it gives flavor and freshness to the traditional recipe.
Spiral baklava
As the name implies, this type is prepared with very thin noodles stuffed with nuts and wrapped around itself like rolls.
To prepare this baklava you do not need to overlap the noodles as in other cases, but use one noodle for each small spiral piece.
Place half of the walnuts in the middle and bake as usual to serve at the end with the sorbet.
Dolls with pistachios
It is considered one of the baklava recipes that does not resemble the traditional one at all.
This is because the thin noodles are wrapped around the full filling with crushed pistachios in the shape of a japraku or dollmaje. The peta should be very thin, almost transparent so that only the taste of pistachios and sorbet can be felt in the taste.
This baklava has a bright green color due to the main ingredient, pistachio.
Baklava “lady’s lips”
The special name comes from the shape that these small baklava bites have. They resemble that of the lips because all the noodles turn in one direction for each of the pieces.
This baklava is prepared with yogurt, milk, eggs, lemon, sugar, flour, butter and water. Bake and then add the sorbet together with ground pistachios. Its special is the thin and very crunchy noodles.
Baklava of the palace
One of the favorites during the time of the Ottoman Empire which is still being prepared today.
It is a long baklava in the form of rolls prepared with ready-made noodles filled with pistachios.
