Police have seized 1 million and 75 thousand euros suspected of counterfeiting, papers for the preparation of banknotes and a mobile apart.
The press release states that a 53-year-old man was arrested with a residence permit in one of the European Union countries.
From the same source it is learned that this citizen, in cooperation with other citizens in our country, is suspected of throwing counterfeit banknotes into circulation, while work continues to identify and apprehend his collaborators.
Police say that the seizure of these counterfeit banknotes and other materials came as a result of the police operation codenamed “Lastra”, by the Rinas Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Section for Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime.
It is learned that during the police search, a considerable amount of suspected counterfeit banknotes and plates (papers used to produce banknotes of various denominations) were found in the luggage of the 35-year-old.
Police say that as material evidence were seized 1 million 75 thousand euros of suspected counterfeiters, plates, special paper for the production of euro banknotes and a mobile phone.
Also, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Tirana Judicial District, for further actions, for the criminal offenses “Counterfeiting of coins” and “Fraud”.
